At the risk of a long rant, let me offer you a silver lining in this storm.

Begin Rant:
I’ve always been a nerd.
Bullied young; so, books were my refuge.
I became a historian; taught it for a decade; now I’m a lawyer—bc my curiosity has always been my compass.
Underneath that, I’m a woman of principle;
a quote person, as you can probably tell.
Here’s one I adopted years ago:
“People who hate history really only hate their own history; bc people who have regrets are people who failed to learn the lesson.” – Ms. G
You?
You may not have even realized it yet;
but…you’re learning.
Whatever else the DJT-era is doing, it’s forcing us to learn civics, filibusters, legislative process, media liteacy, economics—every day.
How many of you can honestly say you understood any of this before?
Paid attention like THIS, ever before?
EXACTLY.
That’s bc politics wasn’t meant to be entertaining or sexy.
It was meant to be serious business.
Bc the People’s business — IS serious business.
But bc of DJT, you’re seeing how a polical reality show works in real-time.
So yes—this IS wild.
And again, no—it is NOT normal.
Just like reality shows — are scripted chaos as well.
But this is real life; and millions of Americans across the country AND AISLE;
didn’t sign up for this ridiculous timeline
And history doesn’t repeat—history rhymes.
So, the historian in me can’t help noticing how much this echoes the 1st Gilded Age—
not just the tariffs and anti-immigration sentiment; but the complacency, trust, apathy, and indifference to politics.
That is… until the consequences became too expensive to ignore, and the People finally woke up to People’s business being ignored; en masse.
That awakening, sparked the Progressive Era:
Muckrakers. Unions. Anti-trust. Recalls. Direct elections. Suffrage.
The list goes on.
And maybe that’s what this moment rhymes to me — not collapse, but awakening;
not regret, but a long-overdue alignment.
Meaning:
What if all this was necessary – if ONLY to remind us of the thing we can never forget?
Freedom — isn’t free.
It must be fought for, protected, taught, and carried forward by EVERY generation —
bc look what happens when we forget.
Now… that said, we can’t change the storm we’re in; but we CAN LEARN the silver linings of its currents.
You do that by looking up, paying attention, and learning stars.
And you can’t do that with your eyes shut.
That’s what you’re doing here—every day, headline after headline; sharing these #24in24’s daily with me.
You’re mapping the storm instead of getting lost in it; you’re seeing things you were maybe never taught to see, or propagandized to not pay attention to.
And maybe THAT… is the point.
Bc regrets belong to people who REFUSE to learn.
To the THOUSANDS who read this far and share this — you’re learning.
Granted, in THE MOST unfortunate way possible, ha! 😅
But here we are nonetheless; and we’re building community while doing it.
Don’t regret that.
So no—this isn’t going to be comfortable for a while.
And yes—it will be exhausting and test the very fiber of your sanity.
But storms reveal.
They clear.
They carve new paths.
This is your moment to navigate—not retreat.
To RISE—not regret.
